When Charity first reached out to me about doing their family photos, all I knew was they wanted an outdoor, country theme and that their little girl would be about 3 months old. We talked back and forth on messenger and settled on one of my favorite locations for their photo session.
The Monday/Tuesday before their scheduled date Charity reached out to ask if they could reschedule. Their little girl, Addison, had just gotten out of the hospital from a round of RSV. When my son was just 4 months old, we spent a week at St. Lukes because of RSV. I know how sick babies can be and how scary this is for the family. I had no problem at all rescheduling when they were ready.
The next week, Charity called to say her doctor had cleared them and they would like to reschedule. I happened to have just received a cancellation for the upcoming Sunday so it worked out in everyone's favor.
Arriving and meeting this family was the highlight of my weekend. Mom, dad and baby Addison. They were all beautiful and happy. There was so much love for Addison. This was one very special little girl. And the smiles. Oh the smiles went on for miles. We got so many amazing photos of her smiling and looking directly at the camera. For three months old, I was shocked and excited to have such an attentive little client to work with.
This little girl was beautiful, but she had two very gorgeous parents. There was so much happiness, and smiling that when they told me Addison had already had one heart surgery, it was hard to believe. If they hadn't said anything, I would have never even known.
As you all know, NICU babies and PICU kids own a special place in my heart. It all started a few years ago when my sweet baby cousin was born with a heart issue. She had other complications and passed before her one year birthday, but I try and pay it forward any chance I get in Braydee's name. These families fight so hard and there are so many unknown factors. I want to do so much for them, but the one thing I can do is provide them great shots of their baby and family shots that they can cherish for years to come.
I asked that they bring Addison back for a set of Easter minis. They absolutely did, and we were able to do them this last weekend. I will blog about Addison and her adorable pink cowboy boots in the Easter Minis blog.
