I love love love newborn sessions. My kids are 22 and 17 and the idea of me having another child is just not gonna happen. Being a lifestyle photographer gives me the very sweet chance to cuddle newborns 7 to 10 days old and get some squishy baby love. Since I've only been photographing people professionally for almost a year and I have so so much to learn. Finding mentors in the Treasure Valley has not proven to be successful yet.
Tayha is such a doll. She is absolutely the most perfect precious model and the camera just loves her. The feelings were absolutely NOT mutual. Tayha would be a perfect angel, but as soon as the camera was ready, she was not.
One photo we had her in the basket ready for a photo and she started crying. Momma Katie would pick up the basket and rock and bounce it until she was lulled to sleep, put it down, I would take one quick shot and Tayha would get fussy again. We repeated these steps for about 30 minutes and got a few workable shots. Poor momma Katie didn't know she was coming to the photo session to get a workout.
We decided we were gonna try a no diaper photo. Pinterest always shows these most adorable photos where babies are posed so perfect, with their little bottoms in the air, just sleeping away. What we got was peed on. All over momma all over the props and the floor drop. Momma was beside herself as I'm laughing and taking photos of the now very wet floor drop. Why not - It was my first diaper free attempt and I just had to document the final outcome :)
In the end we got some very sweet shots of miss Tayha along with some special family photos. I was so lucky that her mommy and daddy chose me to do her newborn photos.
